Mixer - 1x Pioneer DJM-900 NXS2
Speakers - 2x Pioneer XPRS 10
(please check the bookings page for a detailed equipment list)
Do you provide the new CDJ-3000s?
Do you provide headphones with the studios?
No, you must bring your own headphones to the session. Our DJMs have both a 3.5mm and 1/4' jack input, but we always recommend bringing a headphone adaptor just in case.
Do you have cables to connect a laptop to the decks?
No, we don't I'm afraid. Please bring 3 USB cables and a powered USB hub (more info here), as we do not offer extra equipment, including cables.
Is there a mic in the room?
No we do not offer extra equipment. Please bring your own mic and XLR cable to your session.
-
What to bring:
Headphones— A wired pair of headphones with a 3.5mm or quarter-inch jack to plug into the mixer — we don't provide headphones in the studios. A headphones adaptor (small jack to big jack) as a backup solution is also highly recommended!
your USB stick OR laptop (and cables) OR CDs:
USB stick— USB hard drives will not work. Make sure your USB stick is formatted in FAT32, and don't forget to process the tracks through Rekordbox beforehand. Without any of these requirements your USB drive is quite likely to show an error message. Get more info on preparing your USB here.
Laptop— If you DJ using Rekordbox, Serato or Traktor you'll need to bring at least 3 cables to connect it to the CDJs (3 USB A-B) and a USB hub - one cable for each CDJ and one for the DJM. You will also need a paid version of the DJ software to use on our decks. Get more info on connecting your laptop and what you will need here.
CDs— They are only supported in rooms with CDJ 2000 NXS2.
Are you in a DJ Zero room?
DJ Zero rooms only come with speakers! Bring your own decks/mixer or controller, laptop and your own RCA or 3.5mm cables.

If you are planning on using a USB stick with the CDJs, then you will need to:
Make sure your USB device is type 3.0 (3.1 may work on 3000s, but we advise 3.0 on all devices). 64GB and below are recommended due to compatibility. Higher capacity (128GB and above) isn't recommended but should still work.
Format it to FAT32 ahead of your session. Formatting will erase all of the USB's data, so make sure you've backed it all up first! The only format that always works on all Pioneer CDJs is FAT32 or MS-DOS (FAT). Instructions on how to format are in the first video below.
Windows: you are required to download an extra app that will allow you to format USB drives larger than 32GB, more info on the video below.
Export your tracks from your laptop through Rekordbox onto the USB stick.
We recommend using a high-quality USB drive, e.g. those made by SanDisk, as these tend to have less chance of becoming corrupt over time.

Advanced
-
1. Pioneer iOS App - DJM REC (iOS only)
If you are an iPhone or iPad user, you can download and use the Pioneer DJM-REC app from the App Store. Remember to bring your Lightning to USB A cable for this method - we don't provide any on site.
Visit the Pioneer website for more information and instructions on how to get set up using this app with the equipment in our studios.
2. Recording onto a DAW on your laptop (via our DJM 900NXS2)
This option is a bit more complicated, as everyone's set-up is different. However, using the USB port on the DJM900NXS2, you are able to connect to your laptop, and record onto a DAW such as Ableton, Audacity, or another recording software. You will need to:
Download the Pioneer drivers for your laptop before using this technique
Bring a USB A cable to connect from your laptop to the DJM.
3. Recording onto a DAW on your laptop (via your own interface)
You can also bring your own audio interface to the session and hook it up to your laptop and to the MASTER 2 (RCA port) output channels of our DJM 900 NXS2. You will then need to set up your audio interface into your DAW recording software and record as usual.
This solution will also require you to bring your own audio interface and all the necessary cables to allow this routing, as we don't offer extra ones on site, ie. the RCA cable from the back of the DJM into your audio interface (eg. RCA to double TS jack cable) and the USB cable to connect your audio interface to your laptop.
